PRIVATE WIVES - BAD TASTE 2023
Private Wives are excited to announce the release of their debut EP ‘Bad Taste’ via Framer & The Owl.
Forming just before the constraints of lockdown in sunny Wollongong the trio deliver hard and angry riffs, screaming group vocals and haunting words that makes you want to get down and dirty. With their goal to be a voice for young women like themselves, Private Wives don’t leave out any important info.
Born into Wollongong’s punk scene post Rad Bar, Private Wives have been keeping busy, playing with the likes of grunge legends Tumbleweed, Tasmanian icons A Swayze and the Ghosts, hitting the stage for King St Carnival with Australian exports C.O.F.F.I.N., getting rotation on radio stations like FBi Radio, 2SER and Edge, and now finding their home with local record label Farmer & the Owl.
‘Bad Taste’ was recorded by Frenzal Rhomb’s Jason Whalley and mixed by Clem Bennet at ‘Pet Food Factory’, with mastering then handled by Mikey Young. ‘Bad Taste’ follows a series of stories told from the personal perspectives of members Phoebe Price (Guitar/Vocals), Lucy Spencer (Bass/Vocals) and Zoe Lewis (Drums/Vocals), telling of the struggles and frustrations of being a young woman navigating adulthood.
Songs of betrayal, breaking toxic cycles and calling out issues they face head on, with the goal to empower young people to take power imbalances and remodel them, altering the cycle of toxicity and creating a supportive environment for change, Private Wives are unapologetic and fearless.
